Mary Black is the dynamic principal behind Mary Black Recruiting. She is a printing industry executive with 25 years 'ground up' experience, from technical illustrator and art director, through sales and account management, to founding president of Colour Technologies (1985), doing business in Canada, the United States, Britain, Germany, Italy and Malaysia.
Mary has been active as President, director, Founding Director and Advisor for numerous industry associations. She was the recipient of 1993 YWCA Woman of Distinction award and 1992 Toronto Sun Woman on the Move Award. She was nominated for 1994 by the University of Toronto as Female Entrepreneur of the Year. Graphic Monthly Magazine, the printing industry authority, named Mary Printer of The Year for 2005.
A frequent presenter and industry spokesperson, Mary is a persuasive advocate for excellence, and the need for constant upgrading and education in new electronic printing Industry technologies.
For ten years Mary was a Professor and Chair of the School of Graphic Communications Management at Ryerson University where she developed management trainees for the print and communications industry. She was conferred the title of Professor Emerita, Ryerson University 2006. Her efforts on behalf of the school and the conception and creation of its permanent home in the Heidelberg Building have made the school a focal point for the printing industry.
Mary's high level contacts within the Print Industry and her personal relationship with ten years of graduating students from the School of Graphic Communications Management made the move into job placement and recruiting a natural evolution upon her mandatory retirement from Ryerson.
